‘Swish’ Easy Chair

This chair was designed by James Ryan.

The chair is made from English Oak and required some innovative furniture-making techniques. If you look closely, you can see the arm and back leg are one continuous piece, and a tapered lamination technique has been used to retain strength but allow the component to vary in thickness. The seat and back support are connected using a sophisticated jointing technique to add strength where it is required.

The chair is 70cm wide, 78cm deep and 82cm high. The Barnsley Workshop stamp can be found on the underside of the front rail.

The chair is the second in a limited edition of twelve.
